Although we had taken all the necessary precautions
and received all the preventive measures, we were
exposed to very poor sanitary conditions and many
of us got ill. Here doctor Steve Braden is not
feeling well. Luckily, he was back on track the
next day to work with us!
|
I made friends with Danny, a 16 year old Honduran,
who talked with me for four hours at the airport
while I was waiting for the rest of the group to
arrive.
|
At the end of the day, people would line up to
receive the small gifts (like pens, stickers, plush
toys, and necklaces) we had brought them
|

The children liked to stay around
and look at us working all day long

We had a lot of suitcases to bring all the medical
material

The mountain scenery was breath taking

In the morning, there was often a nice fog on the
roads

Hilton. Our dormitory felt very comfortable after a
big day of work

There was only one knob on the showers (when we had
one): Cold water!

We were amazed to realize that people had walked
hours and waited all day long to have a chance to
see the dentists, doctors, nurses,etc
|

daughter. Many girls get married at age 14 or
15.

We were an attraction for the children during our
mission

Over 99% of the babies are breast fed and very
healthy. They become sick when they are weaned and
given unpurified water.

Most people go around walking. A few have a horse
or a mule.
|
I was handing-out necklaces to the children as
gifts. I was very surprise to find out that the
women were viewing these as very precious and asked
me for them ( 5 for a dollar at the Dollar
store).

It was not always ìall work and no
play!î

The children walked long distances to come to
school. Most will not finish 7th grade.

receive the little gifts we brought them.

Thank You, Lord Jesus,
for calling me to serve others in Your
Name.
I want to offer my
time and talents generously that I might
do my best for those who need me. Help me
to remember that what I do for others I do
for You.
May every act of
service I do reflect my faith, in You, and
may my love and understanding be a true
sign of Your deep love and compassion.
Strengthen me, Dear
Savior, to say "yes" to all that You ask
of me this day.
